Termite Control
Winged termites swarming

Termites cause billions of dollars in damage each year. They primarily feed on wood, but also damage paper, books, insulation, and even swimming pool liners.

Termites can injure living trees and shrubs, but more often are a secondary invader of woody plants already in decline. While buildings may become infested at any time, termites are of particular importance when buying or selling a home since a termite inspection/infestation report is normally a condition of sale. Besides the monetary impact, thousands of winged termites emerging inside one's home are an emotionally trying experience — not to mention the thought of termites silently feasting on one's largest investment.

Spring, typically, is when large numbers of winged termites, known as "swarmers," emerge inside homes. In nature, termites swarm to disperse and start new colonies. Triggered by warmer temperatures and rainfall, the winged termites emerge from the colony and fly into the air.

The swarmers then drop to the ground, shed their wings, pair off with a mate, and attempt to begin new colonies in the soil. Few swarmers emerging outdoors survive to start new colonies. Swarmers emerging indoors are incapable of eating wood, seldom survive, and are best removed with a vacuum. They do, however, indicate that an infestation is present and a treatment is required. Atlas Pest Control provides a thorough inspection and complete treatment of the house. All termite treatments are guaranteed for one year. For an additional fee the guarantee maybe renewed annually for life. Atlas Pest Control uses the most effective termiticide available today, Termidor SC. Termidor is truly in a class by its self. Carpenter Ant Control
Carpenter ant control

I"I keep seeing big, black ants in my house, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. I spray the ones I see, but they keep coming back. What kind of ants are these, where do they come from, and how do I get rid of them?"

These are the questions typically asked by homeowners who have carpenter ants. Carpenter Ants are one of the most common ants found in New Jersey. They are also one of the most difficult to control. This page will help you determine if you have Carpenter Ants.

Carpenter Ants, vary in size and color but are usually large (1/4-1/2 inch) and blackish. Occasionally, swarms of winged Carpenter Ant reproductives will emerge inside a home. Carpenter Ant swarms usually occur in the spring and are a sure sign that a colony is nesting somewhere inside the structure. Even if you see only 2 or 3 ants a day in your house you may have a nest close to your house or within the structure.

Control Method

The most effective method of addressing a Carpenter Ant infestation starts with; A thorough inspection of the house. Complete baiting of areas where carpenter ants are nesting and foraging. Exterior perimeter treatment of foundation with Termidor SC. Treatment of trees and rail road ties close to house. All carpenter ant treatments performed by Atlas Pest Control include a one year guarantee.
